Hyperthaema sanguineata

Hyperthaema sanguineata is a species of vibrant moth found in South America. It is known to be a rather elusive species, with no widely accepted common name. The moth is a striking red color with white markings, and it belongs to the Erebidae family of moths.

This drawing was created using Prismacolor colored pencils, black ink, and white gel pen. It was drawn and cropped on blue toned paper, then placed atop an oval shaped canvas. The canvas was painted with acrylic paint, in a fun and loose abstract style to contrast the intense hyperrealistic drawing. It measures 11 by 14 inches large.
