This fascinating insect is a butterfly, belonging to the Fritillary family. There are many beautiful similar species of butterfly belonging to this family, with only slightly different markings and chararcteristics! The average wingspan of the natural insect is about 2.5-3.5 inches.

This drawing is larger than life, as it measures around 19” from the wingspan of the drawn insect. Many layers of Prismacolor colored pencils create a wonderfully smooth look for the wings of this gorgeous orange butterfly.
