Stargazer Lily

(Lilium orientalis)

The Stargazer Lily is a hybrid lily flower that loves the sunlight. They bloom in the summer, and are known for their stripes and speckles. The flower also has a fragrant scent.

This drawing was created using white and black charcoal, on top of a toned blue paper. The paper was then cropped on the four corners to create a “framed” effect. It was a bit of a challenge to recreate all of the different textures within this large flower, but thanks to small sized blending stumps and sharpened charcoal pencils I had a fun time. The drawing measures about 10 by 16.5 inches.
